1.7.1 Testing: About Tutorial Examples
Section 1.7.1: About Tutorial Examples

Besides simply explaining how our software works, we've also included examples that go hand in hand with the material being discussed. The files for these examples are available for you to download and include everything you need to run the experiments described throughout the tutorial. Most of the examples have already been set up and are based on an organized directory structure. All you will need to do is run the appropriate command. The setup for a particular experiment is discussed in its corresponding section.

From the top-level examples directory, there are five more directories:
  • configuration: Contains various configuration files that are common to many different experiments.
  • databases: Contains transcription databases, audio file databases, file lists, etc.
  • models: Contains language and statistical models used and trained throughout the tutorial.
  • recipes: Contains the recipe files for extracting features from audio files.
  • sections: Contains the setup files for the examples in each section.
The examples have been organized according to each section. For example, to run an experiment in Section 4.2.5, you should go to the directory:
    $ISIP_TUTORIAL/sections/s04/s04_02_p05/
where $ISIP_TUTORIAL is an environmental variable pointing to the top-level directory.

The next section will explain how to download and extract the tutorial examples and how to prepare your environment for running these examples.
