1.4.1 Tar Distributions: Acquiring Tar Files
If installation of CVS is not a viable option for you, we provide a
tar file
distribution of our software and documentation that is
somewhat simpler to install. The installation procedure is essentially
the same as that for CVS once the software has been downloaded.
A tar file version of our software can be downloaded from our
software release archives.
To acquire such a file, you can often just click on the link to the
file. A file transfer dialog box will appear requesting a location
to which the file can be transfered.
You can also use the "Save Link As" feature of your browser to acquire
the file. For example, in Netscape 4.7, place your mouse over
the link, and depress your right mouse button. Towards the bottom of the
menu, you will see a choice labeled "Save Link As". Once you select
this choice, a "Save As" dialog box will appear and prompt you for
a location to be used for the file transfer.
Using one of the approaches described above, copy
isip.tar.gz
to your local machine. When this file transfer is complete, proceed to
Section 1.4.2
for instructions on how to complete the installation procedure.
