1.1.2 CVS Introduction: Anonymous CVS
Anonymous CVS downloads (or remote repositories) allow you to obtain
copies of source programs from repositories located on separate
computers. This capability is typically used when you want to obtain
the current working version of our software rather than the last release.
Often this capability is used to capture a bug fix that has yet to be
released.
You can run CVS on your computer, known as the
client,
and obtain program files from the repository on a separate computer
called the
server.
Since the server is located apart from the client, it is considered
"remote," hence, the term
remote repository.
