The Friday Report: Week of January 12
Welcome to the New Bully Market
(STARKVILLE) On Tuesday, January 9, the
ministries of Business and Engineering for the state of Mississippi announced
the joint creation of the first new stock market in over half a century.
Several startup companies in various fields of high-tech engineering around
the state have jumped at the opportunity to be the first stocks traded
in this market. Some of the industries represented by these leading edge
companies are that of silicon technology, aviation, the medical industry,
music, and even production theater. Says Will Draper, CEO of SiCorp, "This
is a good opportunity for companies like ours to expand, make a little
money, and the citizens of Mississippi can make a little too." SiCorp
specializes in developing alternatives to the current standard in microelectronics.
With the new market comes what you see before you: a streamlined trading
interface for the general public.
Joe Picone is the chairman of the Bulldog
Stock Exchange.
