A Collection of Useful Dictionary Resources

Speech recognition research generally requires two types of dictionary resources: an application-specific dictionary that contains pronunciations for all words that can be spoken in the application, and a much larger dictionary that is used to find pronunciations when new words are added to the application. The former is often called a lexicon, and is developed by the researcher or engineer for the specific application. The latter is often acquired from a dictionary provider, or located on the Internet.

This web page links to these two types of resources. We include a list of all application-specific dictionaries that we currently support, and also list some very useful resources available on the Internet. Please submit your suggestions for other useful links to ies_help@cavs.msstate.edu.
