SBE values

Developed by United States Forestry Service as a scale of the scenic beauty evaluations given in human surveys.

Normalized according to response to baseline images.

Range of -150 to 150 representing low scenic beauty to high scenic beauty

SBE classes

SBE scale divided into three regions: LSBE, MSBE, HSBE

MSBE region is all SBE values that fall within one standard deviation of the mean SBE value given.

Goal is to very accurately classify the LSBE images and the HSBE images.
