HW 05: FREQUENCY RESPONSE

  1. Generate a sum of sinewaves at frequencies of 500, 1000, and 1500 Hz at a sample frequency of 8 kHz for a duration of one second. Compute the Fourier transform magnitude spectrum for a window centered at 0.5 secs for window lengths of 5, 10, 20, 40, and 80 msec. Explain your results.

  2. Generate a sequence of plots similar to Example for an isolated word (e.g., "six" from the TIDigits Corpus) and a four-word sequence (e.g. "six three one two" from the TIDigits Corpus). Explain your results and compare to the data presented in class.

  3. For the isolated word example above, implement a simple cepstral-based homomorphic deconvolution system, and display the results in a format similar to Source-Filter.
